up on the deck and enjoy the view.

along the coast for the short journey to Taormina. The views
over the Messina Strain to the Italian mainland are wonderful.

station of Taormina Giardino: It was used for Godfather III.
A chauffeured car takes you up to your hotel.
Your rail journey to Amalfi & Taormina begins in classic style.
At London St Pancras you are welcomed with fast-track and lounge access before boarding the Eurostar. A three-course lunch with wine and champagne is served on your way to Paris. You arrive in Lausanne in the early evening and stay two nights in the old town, perched above the water with sweeping Alpine views.
From Lausanne the panoramic journey continues. Your EuroCity train follows Lake Geneva’s edge past terraced vineyards and medieval castles, before entering the Rhône Valley with towering Alpine peaks to the south. Soon you pass through the Simplon Tunnel, emerging into Italian sunshine at Stresa by Lake Maggiore. This lakeside town has long been a pause for travellers on the Orient Express route, and today it offers the same timeless charm.
A local train brings you to Milan’s grand station, where Executive Class awaits: Europe’s most exclusive premium carriage with just ten reclining seats. A steward is always on hand to serve espresso, prosecco and wine, while a four-course à -la-carte lunch is prepared as the train glides south through Tuscany. After your stay, a private driver brings you to Salerno to board Executive Class again. With spacious seating, fine dining and a free bar, you journey south along the Mediterranean coast, through small towns and past rocky headlands. The train eventually reaches Reggio di Calabria, where you spend the evening in this lively southern city.
The final stage of your journey takes you to Sicily. From Reggio, a short drive brings you to Villa San Giovanni where your train boards the ferry across the Messina Strait. You are free to step onto the deck and enjoy the sea breeze as the train sails across to Sicily. Once ashore, the line continues along the coast to Taormina. The views over the strait are unforgettable, and film lovers may recognise Taormina Giardini station from The Godfather Part III. From here, a chauffeured car takes you up to your hotel, completing a journey that has combined the best of European rail travel with the beauty of Italy’s most iconic coasts.
